“Offering yoga to children and youth is about sharing our adult privilege and power”
Young people today are touted as being the most “stressed” generation. In addition to the stressors of school and home life, young people have to contend with bullying, unrealistic expectations set by social media, video games designed to promote addictive qualities, and now the uncertainty of living through a worldwide pandemic.
After spending years working in child and youth mental health in the public system, Dawn started to notice the benefits of utilizing yoga, breath and meditation with her clients. Utilizing her clinical training and experience as a Registered Social Worker and a Yoga Instructor, Dawn has created a yoga inspired program designed to utilize evidence based best practices in promoting mental wellness among children and youth.
This before and after school program is designed to give young people the best start to their day, improving mood, focus & concentration, and resiliency before entering the classroom, and creating a safe space for young people to release the anxiety and stressors of the day after school.
Children and youth enrolled in the Young Ravens program will experience the benefits of the physical practice, while learning techniques for resiliency they can take off the mat and into their day to day life.
